How self-aware are you as a leader?

For me, self-awareness is critical. Why?

Because whether you’re a CEO, MD, or manager, you’re leading a team of people who will respond to you and your leadership style, communication style, and general way of being!

So, in order to lead a team built on a foundation of trust, integrity, and positive culture, which in turn will lead to success, productivity, efficiency, and growth, you need to know as much as possible about yourself!

“How can I be more self-aware?!” I hear you cry! 🗣️

Here are just a few of my tips for improving your self-awareness, to help you improve as a leader…
🤩 Identify your strengths and areas for development!

What are you great at? What do you find more challenging? Consider yourself in relation to those around you, especially your team. For example, how effective is your way of communication? Could this be improved?

🤩 Ask for feedback!

For me, the most effective way to find out how your team is responding to you is to ask them! I offer a 360 package which can help with this, and there are also resources online that can help you to ask for relevant and helpful feedback. Feedback is super for increasing self-awareness, as it can allow us to see our blindspots, as well as the parts of ourselves that are positive, which many of us are much more likely to ignore!

🤩 Self reflection!

Engage in regular activities such as journaling, or even 5-minutes of reflection at the end of each work day, considering what went well and what did not go so well. When reflecting, think about your team, too. What do they respond well to? Where do you notice team areas for development, and does that say anything about you as a leader? As a coach, I can really help with this!

Personal development is so valuable, but can be difficult, so it is okay to ask for help.

As a business, leadership and management coach, I regularly work with clients from CEOs, MDs and managers to business owners and entrepreneurs, supporting them to lead with self-awareness, confidence, enthusiasm, and integrity. If this is something you are interested in, just give me a shout! 🏆

What tips do you have for improving self-awareness?
