… said half my clients when they found out I was recently diagnosed. The other half? “Hmmm… That doesn’t surprise me at all!” 😅 My son was diagnosed with ADHD last year, and as I researched ways to support him, it hit me like a lightning bolt: I do that. And that. And… oh wow, that too. Suddenly, everything about my life started to make sense. 🥹 The constant dopamine chasing through new experiences (hello, new businesses, partners, countries, and hobbies), compulsive eating, shopping sprees, firewalking, spiritual and psychedelic ceremonies (yes, really!). The racing brain that can simultaneously solve client problems and come up with a new business idea on the way to the loo at 2 AM (true story). It’s a gift, but wow, it can wreak havoc with your sleep! 🤣 Last year, I was 99.9% sure I had ADHD. Full-on ADHD. And when I finally got the official diagnosis, I saw my life through an ADHD lens—and it kind of all made sense. 🥰 Sure, ADHD has thrown its fair share of challenges my way. But I’ve learnt to scaffold myself (sticky notes, timers, lists galore) and see it for what it truly is: my superpower. I truly believe ADHD is one of the reasons my business has been so successful. 🦸♀️⚡️
Funny thing is, since my diagnosis, I seem to have become an ADHD magnet! Loads of my clients are ADHDers, and I’ve delivered Supporting Neurodiversity in the Workplace training to over 40 leaders from all over the world. It’s humbling to see how many organisations are eager to put proper support systems in place for neurodivergent team members! 🩷 Because here’s the thing: whether or not you believe in ADHD (yes, people really say “it’s just a trend”—please read It’s Not a Bloody Trend if that’s you), neurodivergent team members are here to stay. And they’re some of the most creative, innovative problem-solvers on the planet! 🌈✨ But if your business isn’t set up to attract, support, and retain neurodivergent talent, you might struggle to keep up. More and more people are recognising traits in themselves thanks to platforms like TikTok and Instagram. Diagnoses are rising, awareness is growing, and this isn’t going away! If you want to chat about how I can help your organisation support neurodivergent team members—ADHD, autism, dyslexia, etc.— contact me today.
