Tip 365) Give yourself a pat on the back

I'm done! Finished! Whoop, whoop!
I have finally completed the challenge I set for myself one year ago – to post a business tip, resource or motivational quote that would help or inspire a  small business owner every single day for a year!

Am I allowed to say ‘Thank F*** for that'? Well, I will! As much as I enjoyed it, it was a massive undertaking. The first 200 were not so bad, but the last 165 were hard work! It took longer and longer to do each week as I was simply running out of things to say so had to do lots more research!
I am super chuffed with myself for completing the challenge. I am a creator profile so I often get bored easily, and had it not been for the lovely comments along the way, I would have given up months ago.

So, thank you, thank you, thank you for participating, commenting and liking my daily tips. I hope they have helped you in some way. We have managed to create a lovely, friendly, positive and supportive group, which I hope will continue to grow and develop. Massive thanks to Hazel from Busy Keys Virtual Assistant for her group admin help, Sarah from Sarah Barter Proofreading for making my words make sense, and Laura from Serious about Social for her help with scheduling posts!

So what now?
I will continue to post the daily threads, and I have decided to start re-posting the blogs from the beginning, as there were some great posts in the early days which many of the newer members will have missed. I am hoping to develop more networking opportunities for the group as a way to raise funds for HappiMe too.

HappiMe is a non-profit aimed at improving children's mental health, and as many of you will know, the FB group was started as a way to help raise funds for this fab project.

Thanks again for being part of this journey!

Lots of love
Jo x

Thank you to the members of the group who contributed to this blog, providing recommendations about the best software and apps to help small businesses!

Camcard is a great app for your phone. It's for scanning business cards, and it's free. Because it's in the cloud, you'll always be able to find someone's card. It stores an image of the card too. You may have to slightly edit address details, but it usually reads phone numbers right first time.

Pipedrive is a great CRM. Been using it to keep track of all my leads/contacts, etc.

Tip 361) How to Choose a Website Designer for your Business

Massive thanks to Suzy Perry from "It’seeze" for her guest blog on what to look out for when choosing a web designer.

So, you are in the market for a new website — you need someone to design it in such a way that it suits both your business and your audience. But how do you find the perfect fit for you?

It’s not necessarily about cheap or expensive, good or bad; it’s about getting value for money and finding what’s right for you. Would a parent with four children, living in the countryside with a trailer, ask their single, city-based friend for a recommendation for a car? Possibly not.

Thanks to everyone in the Bristol Small Business Network for contributing to this blog - especially Martin Baines and his Linked-In buddies!

I've coached many very successful men and women over the last 12 years and there is one thing they ALL have in common. They read. They learn. They listen to podcasts or audiobooks. They watch YouTube videos. They go to seminars and workshops. They are constantly striving to be better - better in business, better managers, better human beings.
So, if you want to be more successful, it makes sense to copy what successful people do! Here is a list of the best books for small business owners...
  1. The E Myth
  2. Chimp Paradox
  3. 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
  4. Think and Grow Rich
  5. 104 Social Media Content Ideas
  6. How to Win Friends and Influence People
  7. Purple Cow: Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable
  8. Tribe
  9. The Secret
  10. The Magic
  11. The Universe Has Your Back
  12. Ask and It Is Given
  13. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck
  14. The Science of Getting Rich
  15. You Are a Baddass at Making Money
  16. The Sandler Rules
  17. Known
  18. Maverick!: The Success Story Behind the World's Most Unusual Workplace
  19. To Sell is Human
  20. Unstoppable
  21. Chaos Monkeys
  22. Confessions of an Advertising Man
  23. What to Say When You Talk to Yourself
  24. Eat That Frog!
  25. The Tao of Pooh
  26. Gifts of Imperfection
  27. The Power of Habit
  28. Man's Search for Meaning
  29. Awaken the Giant Within
  30. Thinking Fast, and Slow
  31. Black Box Thinking
  32. The 5 Second Rule
  33. Start with Why
  34. Drive

This worked out to be an expensive blog for me as I have only read about half of the list! I am now the proud owner of another 10 audio-books and Kindle books! :-)

Hope you enjoy!
