About Jo

Jo is an international Business & Executive Coach with a passion for helping organisations achieve their full potential. For the last 14 years Jo has been working with hundreds of  B, C, D & V-suite executives, managers, entrepreneurs and business owners to define and then achieve their business, professional and personal goals. She and her team offer business coaching, management & executive coaching, training and workshops to businesses, charities and organisations in Britain and beyond (from Paris and Geneva to Argentina, Bangladesh and New Zealand!).

A fully trained Business & Executive Coach, over the years Jo has helped hundreds of business owners and their teams. She is known for her positivity and enthusiasm, and her clients often describe their sessions with Jo as their weekly “fix”. Jo’s experience in combination with her unique, ‘say it as it is’ style of personal empowerment coaching gives her clients all the inspiration, tools, action plans and accountability they need to be the best they can be. Always up for a challenge, she loves working with Senior Management teams who are not getting along (yet!).

One of Jo’s favourite communication tools is DISC profiling, which helps her clients and teams to understand themselves and others. And if there are any negative beliefs that are sabotaging her clients’ success, Jo’s training in positive psychology means she can help with that, as well.
Always up for a challenge, Jo loves working with Senior Management Teams who are not getting along!

What is JR Training?

JR Training was launched in 2021 due to popular demand, also known as ‘too many requests, not enough Jo.’ “As my clients’ organisations grew,” says Jo, “ I found myself doing more and more work with their managers as well as coaching the Executive team or business owner. There weren't enough hours in the day! So I went on a hunt to find a team of the best leadership and management trainers & coaches I could find. I now have a pretty fabulous team. Between us, we have over 200 years of experience and thousands of testimonials!"

HappiMe

In 2015, Jo and her amazing daughter Abby Pickles co-created HappiMe, a not-for-profit Community Interest Company on a mission to improve confidence, self-esteem and mental health in young people. Jo has always given her time and expertise freely to help the organisation.

Jo's Vision: Making a Difference

Jo’s passion is creating exciting and innovative tools and programmes that make a difference. Whether that is to help inspire young people to adopt a more helpful and positive way of thinking, or motivating adults to strive for success in all areas of their lives — she loves it all.

She runs The Bristol Small Business Network

The Bristol Small Business Network is a lively Facebook group of over 4,300 members that Jo set up to give local business owners a way to support each other, network with each other and buy from each other. It also helps its members through business tips, productivity strategies and mindset resources that Jo posts daily.

She writes!

Jo had always wanted to write a book, and in the years after recovering from cancer, she made it happen.

In 2017, Jo published her first book: ‘Whoops, There It Goes Again: How To Stay Positive When The Bottom Drops Out Of Your World.’ Together with her daughter Abby Pickles,

Jo also co-wrote two books to help children who worry.

She Sponsors others in a 12 step programme

Having gone through some tough times as a child, Jo has struggled with emotional binge-eating her entire life. After recovering from Breast Cancer in 2012, Jo was at her heaviest weight. She has since lost over 9 stone and maintained her weight loss with the help of a 12-step programme for compulsive eating.

"The only way I can keep my sanity around food,” says Jo, “is by helping others with the same problem. There is nothing more rewarding than helping someone else overcome compulsive eating. I absolutely love being a sponsor, and if you have a problem with compulsive eating, please reach out to me. I'd love to help."

She learns!

Jo has spent over 31 years studying business, personal & professional development and is a certified, award-winning Business Coach. She is an EFT practitioner and holds diplomas in CBT, NLP, Mindfulness and Coaching. Jo now shares her time between her passions: business coaching and creating groups and programmes that will make a positive difference in the world.

Supporting the local community

Jo has always been a great believer in giving back to the community. One of her ways of doing it is through a Business Referral Fund. "I’m always being asked for referrals, and in the past I would never take a referral fee — it’s about finding the right fit, not about the money! But recently, someone I regularly refer to suggested setting up a fund to support our work at HappiMe through referral fees. So I did!"

Jo also donates a small % of her income to various charities including:
The Carpenters Food Bank,
Penny Brohn Cancer Centre,
Business for Good,
Unity Church
Barnardo's
Lend with Care
World Africa
