Loads of my clients have really struggled with recruiting good people recently.
Whereas pre-covid they’d get 30 decent applicants, nowadays they are lucky to get a couple. If that, in some cases! One business owner I spoke to recently said he’d started the recruitment process with a huge list of essential & desirable skills but would now be happy with just about anyone! (I did remind him about the age-old wisdom - never fill a hole with an a#%hole! That’s never good for business!) Anyhoo… it got us on to the subject of “is it time to invest in underperforming team members rather than struggle to recruit new ones?”
