The world of ‘Coaching and Mentoring’ can feel like a minefield - especially if it’s something you haven’t looked into before!
So, in some of my calls this week, I decided to ask a few of my clients to describe the difference coaching with me has made to them in one word or phrase. Here’s what they came up with:

Last week, I met a wonderful client of mine for a coffee! We were chatting about lots of things, but one topic in particular got me thinking… 🤔
We spoke about the ‘What3Words’ global initiative, and I started to wonder, what 3 words could I offer to this client today to help them improve their business? 👏 For this particular client, I decided to choose… Procrastination is common. In fact, many of my clients arrived with their email inbox overflowing and their desks piled high (literally and figuratively!).
In my experience, leaders that do not keep their focus aligned with their goals are more likely to get lost in work that can be easily delegated, or in tasks that are irrelevant. I would also say that emotional overflow, such as stress or tiredness, as well as not trusting our teams are also common reasons why procrastination takes over! So, how can you stop procrastinating❓ For me, self-awareness is critical. Why?
Because whether you’re a CEO, MD, or manager, you’re leading a team of people who will respond to you and your leadership style, communication style, and general way of being! So, in order to lead a team built on a foundation of trust, integrity, and positive culture, which in turn will lead to success, productivity, efficiency, and growth, you need to know as much as possible about yourself! “How can I be more self-aware?!” I hear you cry! 🗣️ Here are just a few of my tips for improving your self-awareness, to help you improve as a leader… We all know we should set goals, right? But you’d be surprised how many organisations just don’t set clear goals!
Goal setting isn't just a buzzword – it's at the core of success for organisations and businesses across the world! In the dynamic landscape of business, setting clear and achievable goals isn't just beneficial… It's essential for growth and sustainability. For any business or organisation, trying to grow without defined goals is a bit like sailing without a compass! Goals offer direction, focus, and a framework for decision-making – essential components for steering you towards success...
1.Customer-Centric Excellence: Remember, customers are like houseplants – neglect them, and they'll wither away. Water them with exceptional service, and they'll bloom like never before!
Shift your focus from product-centric to customer-centric: Understand your customers' needs deeply, personalise experiences, and build lasting relationships. Happy customers are loyal customers, and they'll be your best advocates. 2.Agile Adaptation: Adapting to change is like picking the fastest checkout line at the supermarket. It might not always work, but you'll learn to navigate unexpected twists! Embrace change as a constant: Develop an agile mindset that allows you to pivot swiftly in response to market shifts, technology advancements, and customer demands. Flexibility and adaptability are your competitive advantages... Ah, the eternal dance between chasing dreams and counting the £££'s – that's where the real entrepreneurial magic happens! 🎩✨
Passion fuels our engines, propelling us to create, innovate, and conquer the world. But let's face it, even passion needs a steady paycheck. 💰 So how do we balance this dynamic duo? Let's face it, being a manager comes with its rewards, but it also brings immense responsibility and challenges that can lead to stress and burnout. As leaders, it's crucial to prioritize our well-being while steering our teams to success. Here are some valuable tips to tackle stress head-on:
🔹 Set boundaries: Learn to say no when necessary. This is really difficult for some leaders, especially new managers who feel like they need to be 'everything to everybody'. 🔹 Learn how to delegate effectively: If you find that delegated tasks often land back on your desk - you might want to look at the way you delegate... |
