Tip 110) Getting the best out of Conscientious  Cautious thinkers (DISC part 5)

Last, but by no means least, is the C profile. Think accountant, engineer, inventor, and anything else that needs a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

How to spot them...
C profiles are usually very reserved and prefer their own company to crowds. Often classed as the least emotional of profiles, C's do not tend to talk much about their personal lives or to be bothered much about yours, so personal chit chat is discouraged. C's love research, detail and data, and ask lots of questions.

What Do They Do Best?
  • Plan thoroughly before deciding to act.
  • Great fact finders and problem solvers,
  • Fantastic attention to detail.
  • Analytical, organised and methodical.
  • Great at following procedures.
  • Very high standards.
  • Compliant, polite, diplomatic.

What’s Hard for Them?
  • Working with unpredictable people or in chaotic environments.
  • Delegation – they think everyone else won’t do the task to their standards.
  • Being outgoing/open – they are closed about personal matters.
  • Incomplete/unclear directions.
  • Change.

Getting the best out of a C profile
  • Appeal to their need for accuracy and logic.
  • Be systematic, exact and prepared.
  • Keep your approach clear, clean and procedural.
  • Better yet, provide illustration and documentation.
  • Avoid exaggeration and vagueness.
  • Show them how this is the best available current option.
  • List advantages and obvious disadvantages of any plan.
  • Show how the outcome will provide security for their family.
  • Use words like research, investigate.
  • Prepare your suggestions thoroughly before offering them.
  • Be very consistent in follow-up.
  • Point out specific progress made.

Famous C profiles would be Einstein, Ross from Friends, Hermione from Harry Potter, and Bill Gates.

So, there you have the four profiles. As I said in the first blog about DISC, I really do believe it's one of the most important tools you can learn to succeed in life. It helps you in sales, managing people around you, and in your day-to-day relationships. I just love it! Hope you do too :-)

Happy DISC spotting!
