Tip 144) Use your email SIGNATURE to market yourself

Are you making use of your email signature? Many small business owners are definitely missing a trick here. I'm amazed by how many emails I get from businesses who are not using their email to market themselves. The really bad ones don't even contain basic details (yes, really!), especially when they are replying to your message. 


Hotmail didn’t miss a trick. In 1996 when it had only about 20,000 subscribers, Hotmail began marketing directly to its users’ friends, family and colleagues by adding a clickable tagline to every email sent from its platform saying, “Get your free email from Hotmail.”

 This simple growth hack skyrocketed the company user base to 1 million users within six months.

Now, while you are probably not sending out the huge numbers of emails every day as Hotmail did, there is still a lot you can do with email.

• ALWAYS include the basics: Name, Business Name, Telephone, website or FB.
• Make sure this is also set up to include messages you reply to.
• Make sure your phone also has a signature set up.
• Include a link to either your latest product, service or offer (or at least some blurb about it). Or your most recent customer testimonial. Or something else that will interest or intrigue them (mine currently links to Business for Good - a great charity that I'm involved with).
