Tip 274) Training, Advice & Funding – All for FREE!

Hi, my name is Devaki & I’m a Yoga Teacher. I have been for 14 years now! Indeed, it’s the longest I’ve stuck at anything! In 2017 I set up Curvy Girl Yoga here in Bristol.

Curvy Girl Yoga is unique; it offers a safe, supportive environment for those who identify as a woman & are size 16 or more to practice yoga. In just under 2 years it has grown from just 1 to 5 classes a week!

A lot of support in setting up & growing Curvy Girl Yoga came from a government funded organisation called Future Bright. Future Bright offer free advice, free training & funding to help with things you need!

I have a mentor whom I meet with regularly. As a sole trader, these meetings are invaluable in keeping me on track & enable me to discuss the business confidentially, sharing ideas, concerns & achievements. 

They have paid for my logo, my business cards, a couple of adverts & social media advice. None of which I could afford!

I have also attended some VERY helpful workshops provided (free) by Get Set for Growth. These training courses have reassured me that I’m doing things right, inspired me & set me straight on a few things! 

There are a few criteria to meet to be eligible, such as being in receipt of in-work benefits.  If you do meet their criteria, I highly recommend you check them out (www.futurebright.org.uk). I’m not sure I’d be where I am today with Curvy Girl Yoga without them!
