Meditation and mindfulness are no longer just for hippies and monks. There is a rapidly growing movement of business owners, entrepreneurs and executives that understand that how they nourish and care for their mind and spirit is as important to their success as how they take care of their physical bodies.
And I am most definitely one of them! Meditation has been life-changing for me in many ways. Not only am I calmer and more balanced, but my mind is sharper and I am more creative. I meditate twice a day for 10–20 minutes, and I absolutely love it. It's as much a habit as brushing my teeth, and equally as important!
The are many apps and resources available to help you learn to meditate or practise mindfulness, including:
HappiMe: This is an app I created a couple of years ago. Not only does it have short 5-minute mindful bites, it also has the facility to create playlists of your own 'helpful thoughts' to keep you calm, motivated or confident.
Insight Timer: My favourite – so much so, that I will be writing a blog on it shortly.
Headspace: A great 10 minutes for 10 days challenge
Calm: Another great resource.
